CONSULTANT CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST
From time-to-time we have a range of additional therapists here, but most of the counselling and psychotherapy is provided by me.
Here is a brief overview of my background, qualifications and experience
Embarking on personal therapy can sometimes seem daunting, but generally my clients settle comfortably into our pleasant relaxed setting, and usually find it surprisingly easy to share their thoughts.
My treatments are very solution focussed, intended to help you solve your difficulties as soon as possible. I use a wide range of methods according to the needs of each client. This includes, psychotherapy, CBT, narrative therapy, trauma therapy, holistic body/mind interventions, EMDR and mindfulness.
I have worked for over 34 years in the NHS and Private Practice as a Consultant Clinical Psychologist. Over this time I have helped many adults and couples with a wide range of emotional and social difficulties.
I am registered with the HCPC & NCPS as a counsellor, psychotherapist & psychologist.
I have extensive experience in working with OCD, depression, anxiety, marital problems, trauma, sleep, anger, and a wide range of other social and emotional difficulties.
During our first session we can explore the difficulties you are facing. Then work towards overcoming these problems. Most of my clients settle quickly into therapy, and begin to see improvements within the first few weeks.
My qualifications and professional registrations include:
B.Sc (Psychology - Hons - 1st Class - Loughborough University)
Ph.D (The role of Social Support in protecting emotional well-being - London University)
Dip.Clin.Psy (Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Psychology - B.P.S.)

Since qualifying I worked for many years as a Consultant Clinical Psychologist in the NHS. This included work in senior roles at clinical, managerial, consultative, training, and organisational levels. Additionally, on many occasions I have been asked to provide an expert opinion to government institutions on a wide range of psychological matters.
Since leaving the NHS I have worked for over 15 years in private practice. During this time I have provided counselling and psychotherapy to adults, couples and groups.
I have frequently provided medico/legal input for Courts across the UK. This has involved psychological assessments of children, parents and families. During this time I assessed over 260 families and attended Court on over 80 occasions as an Expert Witness.
